Lot 151 is a new fashion line which began with a small line of garments made from thinly-shaved leather. The processed leather is often fused with other textiles, resulting in a finished material with surprising qualities. Leather has never felt or behaved like this before. And much of the credit goes to a particular device: a high-tech variation on a tool known as the Spokeshave 151.
The original Stanley 151 Spokeshave is a design which has been around for nearly 100 years. It is a small hand-held plane with a wide blade and raised, bicycle-like handlebar grips, used to shape and smooth either wood or leather.
The wordmark for Lot 151 draws inspiration from the industrial and craft origins of the line’s signature material. And since leather gives the line an inherent rock ’n’ roll insouciance; the friction between an industrial-looking mark with a refined garment line has potential for a more-textured brand story.
