HeatCity was a mobile app — created by night people, for night people — which used realtime user data to identify trending bars, clubs and restaurants. Crowd demographics, filtered through user preferences, helped users discover the most appealing locale at each particular moment. The initial market was New York City i.e. the center of gravity and gold standard for all human night activity.
Added layers of security preferences (time delays, blocking controls, insider lists, etc.) helped create safe evenings for users — while influencer marketing and general demographic info allowed venues to better target their promotional efforts.
Nightlife culture in New York City has been under siege for for the past couple decades. Between the smoking ban, increased opposition from local neighborhood groups, State Assembly bills which severely limit new liquor licenses, and increasing real estate pressures; nightlife venues are feeling less and less welcome across wider areas. HeatCity was intended to help nurture a vital outlet for human expression.
